Think BRICS participated in the Second International Conference “Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations” in Moscow on 23 March 2026, held under the auspices of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). The event brought together leading Russian and Indian diplomats, experts, government representatives, and business leaders from both countries.

The conference focused on strengthening the time-tested strategic partnership between Russia and India, particularly amid radical geopolitical transformations and Western pressure. Key themes included policy perspectives in the context of global transformation, economic architecture shifts, security stability with geopolitical compatriots, and cooperation within multilateral formats including the UN, BRICS, SCO, and G20.

Participants reaffirmed that strengthening the strategic partnership with New Delhi remains an unconditional foreign policy priority for Russia, with both nations appreciating that this approach is fully shared. Bilateral trade reached approximately $60 billion in 2025, with leaders reaffirming the goal of reaching $100 billion by 2030. Measures to deepen cooperation include developing the International North-South Transport Corridor, the Northern Sea Route, and improving direct settlement systems—currently 96 percent of trade is conducted in national currencies.
